Bergur was first elected to office at the age of 23, serving as a Regional Council Member in the Capital Region of Denmark. He continues to serve in this role today, where he contributes to shaping regional policy and governance. His extensive political career also includes serving as a Member of the European Parliament. During his tenure in the European Parliament, he was a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN), the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), the Delegation for Relations with China, and the Delegation for Relations with Iran, where he played an active role in shaping policy on international relations, security, and governance.
In addition to his political accomplishments, Bergur has a distinguished military career, achieving the rank of Captain in the Danish Army. As an intelligence officer with the Royal Life Guards, he was deployed to Iraq, where he trained and educated Iraqi Security Forces, demonstrating leadership and strategic problem-solving in challenging environments.
Bergur’s academic background includes a Master’s degree in Finance and Strategic Management from Copenhagen Business School (CBS).
